School Governance - Policy not Politics
Many thanks to everyone who helped me with my Newton School Committee campaign in 2009. You are an amazing group of parents and community members who care deeply about our schools and our children's future.
I did not run for school committee because I love politics. I ran because I believe we must do better for our children. Suburban districts like Newton for far too long have avoided change and maintained that education reform was "not for us" but only for underperforming districts.
But there is so much we can learn from those who have had to change and change rapidly. As I said over and over in the campaign - there are no do-overs in a year in a child's life. We must strive every day to do better, to get it right, to make improvements.
I'll be using my website to:
- Highlight issues
- Share interesting best practices from around the Commonwealth and around the country
- Solicit your feedback
- Report to you on what takes place on your school committee
- Let you know how you can become involved to make real change for our kids
Thanks!
